The International Union of Railways (UIC) invites you to the 5th Global FRMCS Conference, taking place on 24-25 November 2026 at the UIC headquarters in Paris.

2026: a strategic year for FRMCS

2026 will be a pivotal year for FRMCS (Future Railway Mobile Communication System), marked by major milestones for the railway sector:

• Delivery of the UIC FRMCS V2 Specifications (November 2026)
• Large-scale testing of the FRMCS V2 specification set within FP2‑MORANE‑2, a EU‑RAIL co-funded project coordinated by UIC, bringing together 12 European railways, 13 product manufacturers, UNIFE, and two Mobile Network Operators
• Expansion of FRMCS initiatives beyond Europe, reflecting the growing global momentum behind next-generation railway communications

As the next major step change in railway telecoms, FRMCS will be a key driver of digitalisation, supporting enhanced operational safety, punctuality, capacity, and passenger and freight services. By enabling the transition towards the intelligent digital train, FRMCS will also contribute to improved traffic management, network optimisation, and overall rail performance.
